KT Kustritz of Denison Breaks Record in 100 Breast with 1st Sub-1:00 in D3 History

2018 NCAA Division III Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships

Women’s 100 Yard Breaststroke – Finals

Denison sophomore KT Kustritz blew through both the NCAA Division III Record and the Championship Meet Record in the women’s 100 back on Friday night. She took over .73 off her previous personal best to become the first woman to break 1 minute in Division III with 59.77.

Kustritz had swum 1:00.63 in morning heats, taking down the NCAA Division III Championship Meet Record of 1:00.85, set by UW-Whitewater’s Amy Spaay in 2013. She had established the overall NCAA Division III Record in November 2017 at the Miami University Invitational where she went 1:00.50 in finals.

Kustritz was out a bit faster tonight than in the morning, but where she really excelled was over the back half, coming home in 31.6, nearly 6/10 faster than she’s ever swum her second 50.
