ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy water polo head coach Luis Nicolao announced that rising senior Isaac Salinas (Spring City, Pa.) will be team captain for the 2021 campaign.
“I’m humbled to be given the opportunity to be the team captain and cannot wait to get the season started,” Salinas stated. “After a shorten season due to COVID last year, we are all looking forward to having more games to play. I’m fortunate to be on a team where everyone is driven to accomplish similar goals and is prepared to do their job and work hard to achieve them. This team truly is a family and will be something special to watch this season.”
Salinas is a three-year starter for the Midshipmen who has played 58 games. The attacker is a two-time ACWPC All-American (2019 – honorable mention; 2020-21 – second team) and a three-time Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference East-Region All-Conference (2018 – second team; 2019 – first team; 2020-21 – first team) selection. In addition, Salinas earned MAWPC Rookie of the Year accolades in 2018 and All-Tournament team distinction in 2019.
For his career, Salinas has 204 total points on 163 total goals and 41 assists. He is the 20th player in program history to eclipse 200 total points. Salinas has recorded 29 hat tricks, while registering 50 steals defensively.
Such an impression list of accomplishments in the sport of water polo!
I can only imagine he’ll be a great leader for Navy!
