WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University swimming & diving teams dominated in Saturday’s dual meet against Villanova, picking up the program’s first sweep of the Wildcats with the women’s side earning its first victory over VU (161-139) and the men’s team winning in decisive fashion (217-83).
“We’ve been really proud of the team’s preparation all year, this week was no different. Our seniors have done a great job of preparing the underclassmen for how to race while we’re tired at this point of the season. The whole staff, Gerry Dunn, Jacob Miner, Emmabeth Jensen, Connor Beaulieu and Sam Milligan were all locked in and kept pushing through a really rough week. Both teams were ready and proud of them for coming out with two wins on the road. WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- The 200-yard medley relay team of Allie Sanchez, Alex Breuer, Genevieve Youngman and Ines Lovato clocked in with a winning time of 1:45.37 while teammates Maddie Haley, Samantha Kim, Angelica Reali and Bella Wylie finished in third (1:49.01).
- Corey Moon (10:23.41), Ashley Vensel (10:33.01) and Ryan Evanglista (10:42.91) swept the board in the 1,000 free.
- Erin Hood and Alex Breuer finished 0.55 seconds apart for the top two spots in the 100 breast, hitting the wall at 1:05.21 and 1:05.76, respectively. The duo also went 1-2 in the 200 breast with respective times of 2:19.64 and 2:21.62, and the 200 IM with marks of 2:05.30 and 2:06.81.
- Lovato (24.32) and Sophia Ribeiro (1:53.29) picked up respective wins in the 50 free and 200 free.
- Ribeiro added a victory in the 500 free with a time of 5:04.55, being joined on the podium by Moon with a third-place mark (5:08.15). Youngman and Reali also went 1-3 with respective times of 56.50 and 57.25 in the 100 fly.
- Wynter Bramao and Emilie Ginovker went 2-3 in the 1m dives with scores of 227.03 and 205.80. Ginovker also took home a second-place mark in the 3m (238.35).
- Sanchez and Haley picked up second and third-place finishes in the 100 back as did Reali and Youngman in the 200 fly.
- Lovato, Ribiero, Sanchez and Hood clocked in a second-place time in the 400 free relay while Ribeiro and Reali earned third-place marks in the 100 free and 200 back.
MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- The team of John McEachern, Bailey De Luise, Michael Baldini and Connor Brennan took first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.39 while fellow Hoyas Liam Ryan, Nick Pezzella, Nate Lamers and Josiah Lauver touched in second at 1:35.04.
- Brennan, Will Barao, Lauver and Sean Percin finished the meet with a top finish in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:08.75.
- Jack Brearton (1:43.47), Barao (1:44) and Andrew Babyak (1:45.20) swept the 200 free as did De Luise (57.18), Tomo Nozaki (57.67) and Pezzella (58.75) in the 100 breast, and Lauver (47.64), Percin (47.73) and Max Larock (47.74) in the 100 free.
- Kim (2:05.48), Nozaki (2:06.66), De Luise (2:06.97) went 1-2-3 in the 200 back.
- Charlie Reichle (257.55), Hriday Parekh (256.28) and Kyle Maziarz swept the 1m dives while Parekh and Reichle went 2-3 in the 3m.
- Baldini and Brennan added top two finishes in the 50 free, tapping the wall at 21.30 and 21.62, respectively. Jellig (4:37.83) and Babyak (4:42.62) also posted 1-2 finishes in the 500 free as did Nozaki (51.01) and Lamers (51.57) in the 100 fly.
- Brearton and Baldini earned top two finishes in the 200 IM with marks of 1:53.79 and 1:54.78, respectively.
- Ryan picked up a win in the 200 back with a time of 1:53.03.
- Connor Jellig (9:36.74) and Jack Januario (9:42.05) went 1-3 in the 1,000 free, shedding a combined 26 seconds off their previous season-best times. McEachern and Ryan also tabbed a 1-3 finish in the 100 back.
- Matt Gibson recorded a second-place mark in the 200 fly (1:56.58).

The Hoyas will remain on the road and head to the Bronx to take on Fordham on Saturday, November 5.

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova logged eight victories on Saturday, including a pair of individual wins for Claire Feick and Audrey Pastorek, but ultimately fell to Georgetown, 161-139, at the Villanova Swim Complex.
The winning pair had sweeping wins for Villanova (0-2) in its first head-to-head loss to Georgetown (3-1) in 15 meetings. Feick had a stellar showing in her second event as a Wildcat, taking the 1 meter and 3 meter dives with scores of 237.68 and 238.80, respectively. After a win in the 200 IM last week’s season opener, Pastorek picked up two more wins, this time in the 100 Back (57.60) and the 200 Back (2:03.68).
Katie White won the 200 Fly for a second consecutive meet, this time posting a 2:01.90 that shaved nearly a second off of her time last week. She was just a second shy of tacking on two others wins, finishing second in the 500 Free (5:05.21) and the 100 Fly (57.25).
The 100 Free saw Lexi Elkovitch and Cara Stapleton both touch with a winning time of 53.29.
The Wildcats split relay action against the Hoyas. Villanova’s 400 Free A unit of Stapleton, Perri Stahl, Lainey Quinones and Elkovitch had a winning time of 3:31.70, finishing two seconds ahead of the rest of the field. The B team of Molly Benson, Pepper Ritchey, Francesca Raimondi and Mary Kate Farrell landed third at 3:40.34. The 200 Medley A team of Pastorek, Margaret Kleinsmith, Quinones and Stahl finished a second shy of first, touching second in 1:46.04. The B group of Hannah Wasmuth, Kaitlin Gravel, White and Cara Stapleton posted a fourth-place time of 1:50.10.
Pepper Ritchey posted a fourth-place time of 10:51.56 in the 1000 Free, followed closely by Brenna McLaughlin at 10:52.79.
Farrell was just six-tenths of a second shy of winning the 200 Free, touching second in 1:53.90. Elkovitvh joined her in the top three, finishing behind her in 1:56.66 while Gravell also scored points for the ‘Cats with a 1:57.70 showing that was good enough for fifth.
Outside of Pastorek’s 100 Back win, Wasmuth also earned points for Villanova with a fourth-place, 59.58 finish. Three of the top five times in the 100 Breast belonged to the ‘Cats. Kleinsmith touched third at 1:06.39 while Stahl and Farrell trailed her at 1:06.71 and 1:08.79, respectively.
Benson joined White as a point-scorer in the 200 Fly, touching fourth at 2:11.21. In the 50 Free, three of the top four spots were held by Villanova. Quinones was 13-hundredths of a second out of the lead, touching second at 24.45. Not far behind her were Elkovitch and Stapleton who went 24.63 and 24.70, respectively.
Villanova had a 1-2 finish in the 200 Back with Wasmuth finishing second behind Pastorek at 2:05.27. The pair was also in the top five of the 200 IM, going third (2:08.84) and fifth (2:11.53), respectively while Gravell finished between them at fourth (2:11.52). Gravell and Kleinsmith both added points for the ‘Cats in the 200 Breast, finishing third (2:25.16) and fourth (2:26.87). Ritchey and Quinones recorded fourth (59.29) and fifth (59.53) swims in the 100 Fly.
Caroline Blankenbecler recorded a third-place showing in the 3 meter dives with a score of 226.05. She also finished fourth in the 1 meter at 203.33.
Villanova’s next meet will take it on the road to Penn on November 9. That meet is set to start at 5 p.m. at Sheerr Pool.
VILLANOVA, Pa. – With two individual wins in its season opener, Villanova Men’s Swimming and Diving fell to Georgetown, 217-83, on Saturday at the Villanova Swim Complex.
Villanova (0-1) split its wins in the diving well and the pool on the day against Georgetown (4-0), the reigning BIG EAST Champions. Nicholas Jubilee posted a winning score in the 3 meter dives with a 266.93. The BIG EAST’s reigning 200 Fly champion Nolan Danus posted a winning time in that event on Saturday with a 1:53.93 time that distanced him from the rest of the field by three seconds.
Villanova’s 200 Medley Relay teams were separated by just one second with the A team of Charlie Hinckley, Henry Halloran, Ryan Maher and Patrick Hemingway finishing in 1:35.07 for third-palce. The B group of Gavin Jones, Mikey Thurk, Henry Gingrich and Reid Hutcherson touched fourth at 1:36.06.
Jake McIntyre posted a second-place time of 9:42.05 with Hinckley and Patrick Casey finishing fourth and fifth at 9:48.83 and 10:00.92, respectively. Both Jones and Hutcherson earned points for the ‘Cats in the 200 Free with fourth and fifth-place times of 1:45.28 and 1:45.41.
In his Villanova debut, Alex Hamill was 12-hundreths of a second shy of a 100 Back win, touching second in 52.26. Henry Halloran and Thurk were neck and neck through the end of the 100 Breast, scoring points at fourth (59.71) and fifth (59.79).
Ryan Maher joined Danus in the top three of the 200 Fly, touching third in 1:56.65. Stephen Griner landed fifth in that race, earning a point with a 2:00.50 finish.
Hemingway fell into a close battle in the 50 Free, finishing third at 21.69, just three tenths of a second out of first. Henry Gingrich was not far behind, touching fifth in 22.06 to tack on another point for the ‘Cats.
Both Jones and Thurk recorded top-five finishes in the 100 Free, going fourth (47.83) and fifth (48.14), respectively. Aubrey Bowles came a second shy of a picking up a win in the 200 Back, touching second in 1:54.68. Hamill trailed him with a third-place, 1:56.63 showing.
Halloran and Danus went 4-5 in the 200 Breast at 2:10.43 and 2:13.91, respectively. Later in the 200 IM, the pair had another top-five showing with Danus finishing third (1:56.87) and Halloran taking fifth (1:59.24). In the 500 Free, McIntyre posted a 4:43.08 time that was good enough for third place while Hinckley finished sixth at 4:47.83. Sam Randall posted a 52.23 time in the 100 Fly that was good enough for third. He was followed by two fellow Wildcats to fill out the rest of the top five with Maher and Gingrich finishing fourth (53.22) and fifth (53.47), respectively.
Villanova’s 400 Free Relay A squad of Hamill, Hutcherson, Thurk and Hemingway was a second out of first, finishing in 3:09.15 for second-place. The B team of Hinckley, Gingrich, Maher and Jones was not far behind, posting a third-place time of 3:11.35.
Outside of his win in the 3 meter, Jubilee also added points on for Villanova with a fifth-place score in the 1 meter at 226.43. Chris Jones finished sixth in the 1 meter (224.48) and fifth in the 3 meter (236.63).
Villanova returns to the home pool on November 4, hosting NJIT at 5 p.m.
