Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University swimming & diving team concluded the Western PA Invite on Saturday morning, securing seven of the top spots at Carnegie Mellon University.
The 200-yard medley relay got things started in day two, with the team of Haley Scholer, Natalia Fryckowska, Julia Sobun, and Kayla Johnson capturing the gold with a time of 1:45.04. Freshman Lexi Sundgren took home a pair of first place finishes, touching the wall at 1:52.12 in the 200-yard freestyle before being in the second position in the 400-yard freestyle relay that took gold.
Graduate student Madison Dickert earned herself a first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:25.62 while classmate Madeline Marks tied for first with Carnegie Mellon’s Molly Kinstle, in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.40. Marks also took home silver in the 400-yard IM (4:40.31) while helping the team of Katie Simpson, Claudia Rzeznik, and Sydney Severini capture bronze in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:38.62).
After receiving gold in the 200-yard medley, Scholer captured first in the 100-yard backstroke by touching the wall at 56.80. She concluded her day by helping the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Sobun, Sundgren, and Gaby Jenkins capture gold, with a time of 3:33.56.
In the 50-yard freestyle, a trio of Dukes finished in the top three spots as Fryckowska captured a first-place finish by clocking in at 24.08. Simpson would finish with a time of 24.22 while Sobun touched the wall at 24.28 to secure the silver and bronze. Senior Reagan Linkous posted a third-place finish in the 400-yard IM (4:41.48) while carding a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.
The Duquesne diving team competed on the final day, highlighted by the Dukes earning the top three spots in the three-meter dive. Sophomore Ashley Felitsky captured the gold with a final score of 277.30 while freshman Lydia Redd (256.60) and junior Julia Doolittle (246.65) secured the silver and bronze. Sophomore Kendall Nigh also competed in the dive and was slotted fifth with a total of 234.45.

Duquesne returns back to Towers Pool when it hosts a tri-meet with St. Bonaventure and Clarion on Saturday, Feb. 3, with the opening event scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
