Henrik Christiansen of Norway is the “muffin man” at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Christiansen has gone viral on TikTok after reviewing the chocolate muffins from the Paris village dining hall and subsequent TikToks where he is seen taking numerous muffins.
Christiansen is in his third Olympic Games after also representing Norway at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Games. He notably was 8th in the 1500 freestyle in Rio and just missed finals in the 800 free in Tokyo as he was 9th in prelims.
He already competed in the men’s 800 freestyle this week, finishing 25th in prelims with a time of a 8:00.55. He also is entered in the 1500 freestyle later this week where he is the #20 seed with an entry time of a 14:57.85. Prelims of the men’s 1500 freestyle is set for Saturday, August 3rd so tune in then if you want to see the muffin man.
Next week, Christiansen will compete in the men’s open water 10km event that is scheduled to take place in the Seine River.
Christiansen also is the Norwegian National Record holder in the long course 400, 800, and 1500 freestyles. He’s made the podium at numerous international level meets, such as a silver medal in the 800 free and bronze in the 1500 free at the 2022 Short Course World Championships.
Food in the village has already been criticized after protein, coming in forms such as eggs and chicken, has been scarce and the village has even run out of food at times. Despite this, the dining hall in the village at least ensures the athletes are getting their carbohydrates in through the chocolate muffin.
The muffins have gone so viral that TikTok is already searching for “dupes” so that they too can get a taste of the enjoyment from the muffin.
