About a month ago, Gold Medal Mel Stewart posted a story about Asphalt Green’s upcoming Big Swim meet on Saturday April 27th that is open to swimmers aged 6-12. In attendance will be Olympic bronze medalist Lia Neal and Olympic Champion Anthony Ervin, plus appearances from Rowdy “Rowdy” Gaines, and an exhibition by national-level divers and synchronized swimmers. Afterward, there will be a benefit gala in honor of the accomplishments of Ervin and Neal, and all of it is to raise money for their Waterproofing program that supports water safety education and access to pools for minorities.
Here’s where things get even better: the event organizers have approached us with an opportunity to give away a Free spot in an EXCLUSIVE Clinic on Friday the 26th to one of our readers. Here’s what you need to do.
To win this ticket for you or someone you know who will be in the NYC area, all you have to do is show us a picture of you and someone who you believe has been most influential on your swimming career. This can be anyone from your favorite coach, a national team swimmer who you look up to, a teammate who’s helped get you through the toughest practices, or in honor of the nature of this clinic: The person who taught you how to swim.
You can send us these pictures one of three ways: Tweet it at us (@SwimSwamNews), post it on our Facebook page (/swimswamnews), or post it to Instagram (@SwimSwamNews). Be sure to tag it with #BigSwim so we can find it!
We will take everyone who submits a picture, put all the names in a metaphorical hat, and draw one out to decide the winner.
Prize:
The winner will receive free admission to the clinic, that will be held Friday, April 26th, hosted by Olympic gold medalist Anthony Ervin. After that clinic on the 26th, the winner and a guest will be able to attend a special reception for clinic participants where they will get to talk to Anthony and others and watch an exclusive back-stage preview of the big exhibition. This is a $350 dollar value, with proceeds again going to the WaterProofing program.

Eligibility:
This clinic is designed for ADULT and EXPERIENCED swimmers, as it will focus on higher-level training techniques! Let’s call it 16 years old as the minimum age to participate in the clinic (though everyone is free to submit their pictures!).
