Colgate Combines To Win 28 of 32 Events In Sweep of Le Moyne

HAMILTON – The Colgate men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams won 28 combined events in an impressive sweep of Le Moyne on Friday night at Lineberry Natatorium. The women’s team cruised to a 229-71 victory, while the men captured a 193-104 triumph. 

The women’s team won all 16 events, led by a pair of victories from MG KingEllie Schundler, and Ellie Sundin. The men captured 12 victories led by Deacon Mascarinas’s three individual triumphs, followed by Jack Schurtz-Ford and Peyton Wray who each won two. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

King won the 100 Back (59.39) and 50 Back (28.14) while also contributing to the 400 Medley Relay that clocked in with a first-place time of 3:59.14. Schundler earned first-place finishes in the 100 Free (55.56) and 100 Fly (1:00.50). Sundin earned first-place tallies in the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Dives with scores of 244.65 and 226.65, respectively. 

On the men’s side, Mascarinas dominated with three individual victories in the 100 Breast (57.24), 50 Breast (26.94), and 100 IM (52.36). He also keyed Colgate’s 400 Medley Relay team that finished in first place with a time of 3:31.07. 

Schurtz-Ford also contributed to the first-place 400 Medley Relay team, while adding a pair of gold finishes of his own in the 100 Back (52.39) and 50 Back (24.28). Wray was another two-time winner, leading the way in the 1000 Free (10:13.68) and 100 Fly (52.69).

Hamilton, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams took on Colgate University in a meet on Friday evening. The men’s squad fell to the Raiders 193-104, while the women’s team dropped the meet 229-71.

Women’s Squad:
The team of sophomore Zoe Coburn (Hickory, N.C. / St. Stephens), sophomore Madeleine O’Dea (Milton, O.N. / Milton District), freshman Kim Velazquez (Fairfield, C.T. / Fairfield Warde), and freshman Kaiya Fraley (Watervliet, N.Y. / Shaker) placed second in the 400-yard medley relay with a final time of 4:07.85.

Coburn took second place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.44.

O’Dea finished in second place in the 100-yard breaststroke, coming in at 1:10.24.

Sophomore Kayleigh Bigwarfe (Glenmont, N.Y. / Bethlehem) nabbed second place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.96.

Velazquez placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a final time of 5:20.43.

Junior Riley Brennen (New Hartford, N.Y. / New Hartford) took second place in the one-meter dive, scoring 195.75 points.

Freshman Gabby Williams (Scotia, N.Y. / Scotia-Glenville) placed second in the three-meter dive with a score of 222.23.

Men’s Team:
The squad consisting of sophomore Justin Enser (Hilton, N.Y. / Hilton), freshman Lucas Clay (Baldwinsville N.Y. / C.W. Baker), senior Belal Aly (Syracuse, N.Y. / PSLA @ Fowler), and freshman Michael White Jr. (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) took second in the 400-yard medley relay with a final time of 3:32.06.

White claimed the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle, coming in at 1:44.31.

Clay finished in second place in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 50-yard breaststroke with times of 57.74 and 27.16, respectively. Clay also nabbed the second spot in the 500-yard freestyle with a final time of 4:51.56.

Enser came in first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.48 and second in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing at the 21.78 mark.

The relay team of freshman Nolan Carner (Weedsport, N.Y. / Weedsport), Enser, Aly, and White took second place in the 200-yard freestyle with a final time of 1:26.31.

Freshman Louis Allison (Queensbury, N.Y. / Queensbury) took the top spot in the three-meter dive with a score of 207.75.

Sophomore Adam Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y. / Hicksville) claimed first place in the one-meter dive with a score of 206.65.

What’s Next:
The Dolphins will travel to Rochester, N.Y. to take on Roberts Wesleyan University on Saturday, Nov. 2 starting at 11:00 A.M.
