YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Viking women improved to 2-2 in dual meets this season after defeating Youngstown State 164-135 on Saturday afternoon.

Cleveland State started the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley as Eva SmithElla CiezGiovanna Cappabianca, and Grace Chelf finished in 1:46.71.

The Vikings had a strong showing in the 100-yard backstroke with the top three spots going to Smith (58.11), Alaina Brown (59.92), and Hannah Panko (1:00.59).

Gra. Chelf (24.00) sprinted to a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with Haley Palmer (24.79) coming in second.

The Green and White swept the 100-yard freestyle as Gra. Chelf (52.38) won her second event of the day, followed by Ana Sofia Sousa (52.54) in second and Palmer (54.67) in third.

In the next race, the 200-yard backstroke, CSU again went one through three with Brown (2:08.56), Panko (2:09.41), and Kayla Brock (2:11.92).

Ellie Mckibbin secured the win in the 100-yard butterfly after touching in 59.04. Ciez came in third with a time of 59.53.

Cappabianca won the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:34.85 and was the runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.28) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.63).

In diving, Brooke Eichel won 1M with a score of 251.70.

Isabella Caraballo was the runner-up in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:33.08) and 500-yard freestyle (5:14.37).

The Vikings went second and third in the 200-yard freestyle with Sousa (1:57.74) and Brock (1:58.63).

Cleveland State capped off the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Gra. Chelf, Smith, Palmer, and Sousa finished in 3:34.07.

The Green and White will now rest up for the annual three-day Magnus Cup from Nov. 21-23 inside Busbey. Tickets for the event can be purchased here.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Cleveland State men improved to 3-0 in dual meets this season after knocking off Youngstown State 161-139 on Saturday afternoon.

Jackson Nester won all three of his individual races for a second time this season taking home the 1000-yard freestyle (9:37.58), 200-yard backstroke (1:52.92), and 400-yard IM (4:00.10).

Paddy Johnston was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle (20.79) and 100-yard butterfly (49.24).

In the 200-yard freestyle, Connor Green was victorious after touching in 1:42.65.

Dogukan Tombul won the 100-yard backstroke after finishing in 51.50 and Brock Wallace was second with a time of 52.58.

In diving, James Wolf won both events with NCAA Zone Cuts. The sophomore scored 321.23 on 3M and 308.18 on 1M.

The Vikings got second-place finishes from Aidan Florio in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.17), Tyler Schultze in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.12), and Nate Steiner in the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.97).

Cleveland State capped off the day by winning the 400-yard freestyle relay as Tombul, Johnston, Daniel Lyngaas, and Green finished in 3:03.80.

The Youngstown State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams had strong efforts on Senior Day at the Beeghly Natatorium against Cleveland State.

On the women’s side, the Vikings won the dual by a score of 164-135 and on the men’s side, CSU won 161-139.

Women’s Highlights

One-Meter Dive: Hanna Held was second with a score of 251.33 finishing as the runner up by 37 points. Finishing third was Ellen Linscheid with a 237.53 and Natalie Weissman finished fourth with a 229.35.

Three-Meter Dive: Held won with a score of 262.28 while Weissman was second with a score of 253.20 and Emma Schum placed third with a 240.68.

200-yard medley relay: YSU finished second with a time of 1:48.64.

1000-yard freestyle: Olivia Sweetman placed first with a time of 10:30.79 while Hailey Clark was third with a time of 10:43.98 and Morgan Glass clocked a time of 10:47.70 to place fourth.

200-yard freestyle: Miriam Frass earned a win with a time of 1:54.57.

100-yard breaststroke: Oliwia Kaniak won the event with a time of 1:06.33.

200-yard butterfly: YSU took the top three spots as Allison Alvarez Romero won with a time of 2:10.94, Natalia Andres was second at 2:11.08 and Sweetman was third at 2:15.88.

200-yard breaststroke: Kaniak won the event with a time of 2:21.82.

500-yard freestyle: Frass collected her second win of the meet with a time of 5:12.28 while Clark was third with a time of 5:14.97.

100-yard butterfly: Ramierz was second with a time of 59.12 seconds.

400 IM: Frass was second with a time of 4:36.91 while Macy Wang was third at 4:43.11.

400-yard free relay: YSU was second with a time of 3:35.54.

Men’s Highlights

Three-Meter Dive: Brooks Adams took second place with a score of 260.18.

200-yard medley relay: YSU won the event behind a time of 1:32.37 by Elmore, Slessor, Beck and Gramer.

1000-yard freestyle: Gavin Webb finished second with a time of 9:42.90 and Poyraz San Askin was third with a time of 9:48.09.

200-yard freestyle: Lorenz Beck was second with a time of 1:43.95 while Terin Frodyma was third with a time of 1:45.81.

100-yard breaststroke: James Slessor finished first with a time of 56.51 seconds and Dominic Panozzo was third at 57.55 seconds.

200-yard butterfly: Jacob Gramer won the event with a time of 1:56.40 and Jameson Cooke was third with a time of 1:59.23.

50-yard freestyle: Gavin Redden was second with a time of 21.26 seconds and Rares Druga was third at 21.31 seconds.

100-yard freestyle: Darren Laing took the win with a time of 46.20 seconds while Redden was second at 46.60 seconds.

200-yard backstroke: Dominic Bono was second with a time of 1:54.26.

200-yard breaststroke: Slessor swept the breaststroke with a time 2:05.81.

500-yard freestyle: Gavin Webb took first with a time of 4:39.83 while San Askin was second at 4:48.35 and Ethan Woychehoski was third at 4:50.98.

100-yard butterfly: Gramer was second with a time of 49.55 seconds and Lorenz Beck was third at 50.67 seconds.

400 IM: Bono was second with a time of 4:08.99.

400-yard free relay: YSU was second with a time of 3:04.22.
