SARASOTA, FL — Five U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) National Records and one Masters World Record were broken at the Bumpy Jones Classic Long Course meet, held June 20–21, 2026, in Sarasota, highlighted by historic performances from Diane Uustal (Sarasota Sharks) and Kelly Palace (UC14, Unattached).

Diane Uustal Breaks Five Masters National Records (80–84 Age Group)

Competing in the 80–84 age division for the Sarasota Sharks, Uustal established five new USMS National Records, breaking the existing marks across every individual event she entered in the freestyle and backstroke disciplines:

  • 50 Freestyle: 37.77
  • 200 Freestyle: 3:11.00
  • 50 Backstroke: 46.37
  • 100 Backstroke: 1:39.69
  • 200 Backstroke: 3:37.27

These long course performances follow several short course meter swims earlier this year where Uustal established USMS National Records in the 50 Free (37.20), 100 Free (1:25.64), and 50 Back (45.84), alongside a Short Course Meters World Record in the 100 Back (1:32.56). Over her Masters career, Uustal has broken a total of 145 National Records and multiple World Records.

Kelly Palace Breaks 400 Free Masters World Record (65–69 Age Group)

Palace established the lone world record of the meet, competing in the 65–69 age group. She set the Masters World Record in the 400-meter Long Course Freestyle with a time of 5:09.26.

Earlier in 2026, Palace also established world records in the 800-meter distances, including the Short Course Meters World Record in the 800 Free (10:24.48) and the Long Course Meters World Record in the 800 Free (10:47.99).

The Venue

The Bumpy Jones Classic was hosted at the Selby Aquatic Center in Potter Park, a facility that continues to upgrade its amenities after hosting the 2023 USMS Masters Summer Nationals. The venue features a shaded awning covering bleacher seating, which runs the full length of the 50-meter competition pool, and has recently expanded with the addition of a new 10-lane short course pool adjacent to the main stadium tank.

The next Masters event hosted at the Selby Aquatic Center will be the Sarasota Sharks Short Course Meters Shark Tank Meet, scheduled for November 7–8, 2026.
