Indiana lead the meet after day 2 with 169 points over NC State with 165. If we add remaining psych sheet points (which doesn’t include diving, a strength for Indiana) Indiana lead with 401 projected points over NC State with 395 and Texas with 364.
Vs seed (so swimming events only) the best day belonged to Georgia who picked up 33 points over the psych sheet. Next were Stanford who gained 29, Florida who picked up 23. The other main contenders, 3rd place Texas and 5th place California each gained 6 points over the psych sheet. The biggest drop offs came from Michigan who lost 30.5 points and Texas A&M who lost 27.
The highest single individual event score was Indiana’s 42 points on the 1 meter. Next was Florida with 36 in the 200 IM, and Michigan and Texas each with 33 in the 500 free.
Scoring Summary
Psych sheet doesn’t seed diving so I compared day 2 swimming only points to the psych sheet to get an idea of how team’s performed vs base line expectations.

Four straight years of Texas winning the 500 would suggest the Horns have plenty of gas in the tank for the next two days. Freshman swims look solid, especially Sam and Austin. Faster medley relay means best may be yet to come.
True. One bad(ish) session from a few of their guys does not mean they’re done for.
Seeing Dressel in great form, Texas team must be thankful if Schooling gotten 2nd in 100 fly..
Here’s what I have for tomorrow’s events excluding diving:
Indiana 6/1
NS State 6/0
Cal 5/5
Texas 4/3
Florida 4/2
Obviously this is just a guess, but it looks like the team race should stay close. 100 Fly should be a big event because I have all 8 finalists coming from these teams.
Great meet!! Next few days will be crazy fun to watch.
NC State is having a hell of a meet! Their top finisher in every swim event up to this point has either been first, second, or third.
800 free relay, #1
200 free relay, #2
500 free , #3
200 IM, #2
50 free #2
400 medley relay, #2
Day 2 Summary (per SwimSwam thread conversations)
** Only 3 things are certain:
1. Dressel,
2. Death, and
3. Texas.
I am going to the meet on Saturday. Do I have to purchase tickets online, or are they purchased at the meet entrance?
At this point, you’ll need to purchase them from God. You’re going to witness a human swim a 37.9 flat start 100 free. And not that Phelps vs. Shark nonsense.
I am going too on Saturday, does that comment above mean they’re all sold out?
They’ve been sold out for weeks, though there seems to be people no-showing their tickets.
Diving saved Texas
Indiana and Texas have chosen to use valuable scholarship money, that could have gone to one or two more swimming studds, on divers because they have world class diving coaches. What’s the problem?
