Irvine Novaquatics’ Adrian Gutierrez Verbally Commits to UNLV

  2 Braden Keith | September 18th, 2014

Adrian Gutierrez from Irvine Novaquatics and Murrieta Valley High School has verbally committed to UNLV.

Gutierrez feels like exactly the kind of swimmer that thrives at UNLV. He has one even that stands out heads-and-tails above the rest as his specialty: the 100 yard butterfly. He swam a 50.17 in that race as a junior, which is a 1.7-second drop from his sophomore season.

He’s made steady improvement throughout his high school career. Best times by grade level:

  • 11th grade: 50.17
  • 10th grade: 51.83
  • 9th grade: 54.48
  • 8th grade: 58.62

He’s also a good freestyler, with yards bests of 22.47/48.32/1:45.74, where he could contribute further to UNLV by his junior or senior season.

Gutierrez has good size – on his berecruited.com profile, he lists himself as 6’4″ and 205 pounds.
