Ryan Sweat from Overland Park, Kansas has made a verbal commitment to swim for SCAD Savannah beginning in 2015-16. Sweat attends Shawnee Mission South High School and swims for the Kansas City Blazers.
Sweat won the 200 free his sophomore year at the 2013 Kansas 5-1A Boys State Swimming & Diving Championships and placed second in the 100 fly, helping Shawnee Mission South win the state title. As a freshman he was seventh in both the 200 free and 100 fly at 6A States. His best times are:
100y fly: 51.63
200y fly: 1:53.08
50y free: 22.83
100y free: 48.61
200y free: 1:42.88
500y free: 4:42.70
200y IM: 1:57.79
Sweat’s 200 fly time would have made the “A” final at 2014 NAIA National Championships; his 010 fly and 200 free would have been “B” final-worthy. Sweat will have a tremendous training group, joining 200 free NAIA record-holder Joel Ax and B-finalist Roger Kjos, both of whom will only be juniors when Sweat arrives in Savannah.
