Rose Bowl Aquatics’ 12-year-old standout Ronald Dalmacio turned heads once again at last weekend’s 2017 Rose Bowl Aquatics Long Course Meet. Dalmacio not only shattered all 3 of the 11-12 National Age Group Records in the long course backstrokes, but also closed in on the NAG Records in the sprint freestyles.
In the 50 free, Dalmacio moved up to #2 all time in the 11-12 age group, surpassing Rafael Gu (25.31), after setting a personal best 25.24. He’s now just .15 shy of the NAG Record, which stands at a 25.09 done by Michael Andrew in 2012.
In the 100 free, he posted the 3rd fastest time ever in the 11-12 age group, lowering his best time to a 55.13. That knocked well over a second off his best time, as he came into the meet with a personal best of 56.73. He’s now just a tenth off the NAG Record, which stands at a 55.03 done by Winn Aung in 2014.
Dalmacio’s 11-12 NAG Records From Last Weekend:
- 50 meter back- 27.45
- 100 meter back- 59.54
- 200 meter back- 2:10.01
In addition to his lights out performances in the sprints, Dalmacio registered best times in the 50 back (27.45), 100 back (59.54), and 200 back (2:10.01) to give himself the complete set of long course backstroke records in the age group. He also put up best times in the 50 breast (35.24) and 400 IM (5:09.48).
Stay in school, son.
