Alyssa Chain Gives Verbal Commitment To Iona College

Ocean City High School senior Alyssa Chain gave her verbal commitment to take her talents to Iona College for next year.

Chain, who swims with Pleasantville Aquatics in Ocean City, New Jersey, primarily swims fly and freestyle events. For the past three years she’s competed at the NJISSA State Championships where she’s been a major contributing factor to the Ocean City High School relays.

At the 2015 NJISSA State Championships Chain swam a 53.63 split on the third leg of the 4×100 freestyle relay. There, her team finished third overall. In the 200 freestyle relay Chain led things off sporting a 24.42 on the opening leg in order to lead her team to gold.

When asked why she picked Iona College Chain stated,”Iona’s location and academics were a perfect fit for me. The team and coaching staff made me feel like a part of the family.”

The team is located in New Rochelle, New York, about a three hour drive from Ocean City. The College is also located close to New York City.

Chain is excited to take the plunge into collegiate swimming, “I look forward to becoming an asset to the team, and together taking Iona to the next level! Go Gaels!”
