I have found that many hardcore open water swimmers were not always the greatest racing swimmers..or didn’t even start swimming much until later life. We have a small group of elite open water swimmers on the CA central coast…not always that fast in the pool but they will swim literally hours straight. More of that “never say die” attitude.
