Women’s 400 Free Relay Splits

Interested in seeing all of the splits for the women’s 400 free relay without doing the math? Check out this PDF.

400 Free Relay splits.

The fastest split by far was Ranomi Kromowidjojo’s 51.93, followed closely by Australia’s Melanie Schlanger in 52.65; perhaps a bit surprisingly, those were the only two to go under 53 seconds.

Denmark’s Jeanette Ottesen, after breakint the Danish National Record in the 100 fly earlier in the session, continued some hot swimming with a 53.24 anchor for their 6th-place relay. All four swimmers in that race Pernille BlumeMie Nielsen, and Lotte Friis) swam very well, though the finish might not represent that. When Nielsen slides over to backstroke, and Ottesen to fly, this is a serious medal-contending relay. A lot will come down to the health of breaststroker Rikke Moeller-Pedersen. With a 1:07 from her, a top 4, and a possible medal, seems within reach.

This is an awesome pdf. Please get more relay pdfs or scans of official results. The official website is just rubbish. It would be so much easier to just publish the official pdf.
This pdf is not from France, it looks exactly like the official printout of the Games. And yes, the IOC is bilingual english and french, that’s why the header looks like it looks.
Omegatiming is off for the Games, because of missing rights. Please all write to FINA to get the official pdfs on a website for the next Olympics.

The key to this one was consistency across all 7 girls. An interesting fact is 3 of the girls started swimming late eg Ellmslie & Kukla (12 ) & Schlanger (15). Neither Libby nor Alicia were national names before 19..

Seebohm & Campbell were international stars at 14 then suffered debilitating iilnesses.

So if you want fast swimmers -keep your programs fun & accessible.

JG, what are you talking about?
Libby already won 50 free bronze in 2003 worlds at the age of barely 18, and she had been a national team member since she was 16.

Kukla started swimming late because she was a gymnast before, and hence her strength and power development as a 14 yo far exceeded any other swimmer at that age.

But yes, it is true about Seebohm and Campbell, they suffered from over-training related illnesses.

Yikes… Sarah Sjostrom split was a bit weak… 53.91.I was expecting a bit more from her.

Yep, my picks are screwed.
Should have gone with my first instinct of getting Schlanger.

Braden, you are not seriously saying Denmark has medal chance in the women 4×100 medley??

I really can’t see any other country unseat USA-AUS-CHN in the women 4×100 medley

Think about what you just saw on Day 1… Ottesen will split sub-57 in the fly, Blume sub-54 in the free. Nielsen split a 54.0 (massive pb) in the free, which tell us she’s hot at this meet. Expect an improvment of at least 2 tenths on her 59.6 backstroke. That leaves Rikke Moeller Pedersen who’s been 1.07 this year already. Not all that far from the Chinese, huh?

Not this PDF. Judging from the headers, it’s from France or something.

Thanks, you lovely French commenters!

Me too. I really miss Omega Live timing. It made watching live streaming a lot more fun.

Mel: where are your splits from? What sources are the swimming media usIng? Fina.org and London2012.com are next to worthless. Any idea why Omega Live Timing isn’t available?
