University of Michigan head swimming and diving coach Mike Bottom announced the addition of swimmers Seth Kyriakidis and Nathan Stovern to the team’s 2017-18 recruiting class. “We’re excited to add both of these guys to our program,” said Bottom. “Seth is an up-and-comer and has dropped a lot of time in the last year, and Nathan is a hard-working freestyler with a lot of untapped potential.”
Seth Kyriakidis
Kyriakidis is a senior at Pope John Paul II High School in Hendersonville, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville. He focuses primarily on butterfly and breaststroke, and is a seven-time Tennessee State Championships finalist, finishing third in both the 100 fly and 100 breast in 2017. He also swims for Ensworth Aquatics and was a finalist in both the 200-yard butterfly (third) and 100-yard butterfly (fourth) at the 2017 Speedo Greensboro Sectionals.
His top SCY times, which are all from this season, are as follows:
- 50 fly – 22.34
- 100 fly – 48.64
- 200 fly – 1:48.69
- 50 breast – 26.48
- 100 breast – 56.78
- 200 breast – 2:07.54
- 200 IM – 1:52.82
Nathan Stovern
Stovern hails from Tampa, Florida and swims for the Berkeley Barracudas and Berkeley Preparatory School. He was a two-time finalist at the 2016 Florida 1A State Championships, taking fourth in both the 100 free and 200 free. He also swam a leg on Berkeley Prep’s third-place 200 freestyle relay.
His best SCY events are:
- 200 free – 1:39.85
- 100 free – 46.01
- 50 free – 21.39
- 500 free – 4:47.82
Kyriakidis and Stovern join a previously-announced five-man class: diver Ross Todd (Happy Valley, Australia) and swimmers Luiz Borges (São Paulo, Brazil), William Roberts (Annapolis, Md.), Ricardo Vargas (Cuernavaca, Mexico) and graduate transfer James Peek (Forest Row, England/Duke).

Seth is filled with untapped potential. Incrediable underwaters. Should be fun to watch him get some good training under his belt. Expect nothing less than a 46 from him next year in the 100 fly
They should be able to take back the BIG’s crown next year.
Not with the class IU has coming in, plus a coach who happens to be the best in the world in the staff coming in.
