Braden Holloway and his staff are on a roll; not yet two weeks into the month of September, they have already received verbal commitments from four men (Daniel Forndal, Giovanni Izzo, Luke Sobolewski, Ray Van Deusen) and three women (Julia Poole, Kate Moore, Olivia Calegan) for their class of 2021. On Saturday, Canada’s Danika Huizinga made it an even eight with her verbal agreement to join the Wolfpack.

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to swim for NC State for my University career! I am thrilled to be able to swim under coach Braden and his amazing coaching staff, while being part of a world class and on-the-rise team! I cannot wait to be a member of the Wolfpack! Go Pack!”

Huizinga, who competed in the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China, in 2014, swims for Ajax Swimming in Ajax, Ontario. She specializes in sprint fly and back, but adds an occasional sprint free and IM into the mix. She had a strong championship meet this summer at the Ontario Summer Long Course Championships, earning gold medals in the 100 back and 100 breast with new PBs in both, silver medals in the 200 breast and 100 fly, and a bronze in the 200 back. Her best LCM times are:

  LCM
50 free 26.96
100 free 57.98
50 back 29.31
100 back 1:02.30
100 breast 1:13.25
50 fly 27.52
100 fly 1:00.72
200 IM 2:17.53

How are they not. They are top 3 on both men and women on improvement they get from their swimmers. Their coaches are some of the most enthusiastic and dynamic. They are getting the respect they deserve from recruits.

Wow… Danika is a top 10 recruit on Collegeswimming.com.. This is a great pick up for NC State. The women’s team will be joining the men’s team at the top of NCAA ranking if they keep this trend.
