Wisconsin State Champion Alyssa Graves Verbally Commits to Iowa

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Arrowhead High School’s Alyssa Graves has verbally committed to swim at the University of Iowa beginning in the fall of 2020.

Graves competed at the 2019 Wisconsin State Championships with her club team, Schroeder YMCA Swim Team. She won the title in the 1650 freestyle (17:13.56), 8.5 seconds ahead of the next competitor. At the 2017 state championships, she swam her personal best and earned short course Junior National time standards in the 200 fly and 1000 free.

Top SCY Times:

  • 1000 free – 9:59.52
  • 200 fly – 2:02.82
  • 1650 free – 17:00.52
  • 500 free – 4:55.23
  • 100 fly – 57.51

If she continues to improve her times, the butterfly and distance freestyler will be a strong addition to the Hawkeyes. Her 1650 and 1000 times would have been the team’s second fastest this season, behind senior swimmer Abbegayle Schneider. Her 200 fly time would have put her 2 seconds out of making it back to finals at the 2019 Big Ten Conference Championships. Alyssa’s commitment follows that of Alexa Puccini of Maverick Swim Club for the class of 2024.
