Evan White broke his second Canadian National Age Group Record in as many days with a win in the 200m breaststroke during tonight’s finals.

White swam a fast 2:10.72 in the short course 200m breaststroke to beat
out his closest competitor Yannick Lindenburg (a top German prospect) who touched just
behind White in 2:10.83. With White’s new 2:10.72 he broke the 200m
short course breaststroke Canadian age-group record in the 15-17
age category. The previous record was held by Morgan Knabe and set
in 1999 with a time of 2:11.22.

The last record which White broke last night was the 200m fly record, a record that had been held
since 1999 as well. White has re-written his name into the record
books of Canadian swimming, now holding three short course 15-17
age group records (200m IM, 200m fly, and 200m breaststroke) and
two long course 15-17 age group records (100m fly, and 200m IM).
The recent University of Michigan commit is known for his IM
swimming, but has been branching out. With two Canadian records
already set at this year’s Thunderbolt Junior Invitational in
Oregon, White could be setting himself up for two more as he swims
the 100m fly and 200m IM tomorrow night. White is heading into
tomorrow’s prelims as the top seed in the 200m IM and the current
Canadian record holder for his age category. For full meet results
