Caleb Treadwell has been hired as the new Wesleyan University Assistant Swimming Coach. Caleb brings to the position a wealth of experience as both a Division III Student-Athlete and as a Swim Coach.

He recently graduated from the State University of New York at New Paltz where he competed in the sprint freestyle and butterfly events. As a Geography Major and two year Team Captain, Caleb earned the Men’s Team Most Valuable Swimmer award and established varsity records for both individual and relay events. Additionally, Caleb was heavily involved at New Paltz in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) where he served as the committee’s Vice President and helped to establish a community awareness event for domestic abuse called Yards for Yeardley. Caleb also served as the SAAC representative for the SUNYAC conference

In addition to juggling his athletic and scholastic responsibilities as an undergraduate, Caleb also found time to work as an Assistant Swim Coach for the HAWKs Swim Team where he coached the Silver Team comprised of 10-13 year olds and the Senior Team when the Head Coach was not available. Caleb has also worked at the Hartwick College Swim Camp in the summer of 2015 and 2016. During his final two years at SUNY Paltz, Caleb served as the department’s Strength and Conditioning Intern where he helped varsity athletes create comprehensive lifting plans; including multiple periodization cycles. He also provided assistance with proper lifting technique and supervision of the weight room.

Caleb officially begins his new position on August 1st. When asked about the move to Wesleyan University, Caleb shared his excitement about coaching with the college team. “I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to start my collegiate coaching career at Wesleyan University. The team is in an excellent position to see great success, and I am eager to be a part of it.” As the Assistant Swim Coach / Intern, Caleb will have the opportunity to pursue his graduate degree at Wesleyan, assist with departmental assignments, as well as work with the local age group and masters swim teams.

Coach Solomon is excited about Caleb’s arrival to Wesleyan this summer and feels that his enthusiasm to get involved with recruiting, dryland training, and on-deck coaching will prove for a seamless transition between Caleb and his predecessor, Ethan Cooke, who recently accepted a position as the Assistant Swim Coach at Bucknell University.

Coach Solomon feels that with everything the team has been able to accomplish in recent years, “it became apparent that Caleb was the perfect candidate to help the team continue its move forward.”

Wesleyan Swimming and Diving is coming off a banner season with highlights that include 15 varsity records, a top 20 finish at the Div. III NCAA Championships for the women’s program, and CSCAA Team and Individual Scholar All-American honors. The women’s team finished off the year with a 3.65 Team GPA, and the men were close behind with a 3.60 Team GPA, the 3rd highest in the country.
