Watch: Guy Barnea’s Insane New Octopus-Themed Deep Water Drills

After posting a creative video of new PVC pipe drills last week, 2008 Israeli Olympian and former Cal Bear Guy Barnea is back with some crazy deep water drills.

In the below video, posted on his Facebook page earlier this week, Barnea presents seven new drills that require no equipment and focus on body movement and connection in the water.

The drills in the video include “Wild Octopus Push-Offs,””Opposite Tentacles,” “Deep Sea Quadopus,” “Kinky Octopus Abs,” “The Dracula,” “Spiderman Blast-Offs,” and “The Super Hero.”

Barnea developed the drills alongside his Club Wolverine coach Mark Hill and teammates Geof Cheah of Hong Kong and Daniel Torres of Mexico.

Barnea is the current Israeli record holder in the long course 50 back (24.64), the short course 50 back (23.27), and the long course 100 fly (51.36). Some of his top international finishes include two long course European Championship bronze medals in the 50 back (2010, 2012), a short course European Championships silver medal in the 50 back (2012), a bronze medal in the 50 back at the 2009 World University Games, and a silver medal in the 50 back at the 2011 World University Games.

While swimming for Cal, Barnea was a member of the 2010 NCAA champion 200 free, 200 medley, and 400 medley relay teams.
