Wang and Zhou Both Collect Their Second Gold at Chinese Nationals

The 2016 Chinese Summer Nationals came to a close today with five titles up for grabs and saw two repeat winners. Wang Zhou, who won the men’s 400 IM on the first day of the competition, took the 200 IM in a time of 2:02.88. Swimming out of lane one he finished almost two seconds ahead of the next competitor.

Zhou Min, who took the women’s 400 IM on Monday, won the 200 IM in a time of 2:13.15. She also won with relative ease finishing over a second and a half ahead of the field. Zhou, who finished second to Ye Shiwen in this at the Olympic Trials, was a second off her trials time of 2:12.02.

Wu Yi Xin won the women’s 200 backstroke in a time of 2:12.89. She finished second in the 100 backstroke to Cheng Haihua who beat her by almost two seconds. Cheng finished eighth in the longer event. Wu finished fifth in this event at the Chinese Olympic Trials.

Zhao Xianjian won the men’s 50 freestyle posting a time of 22.75. Zhao’s time would have placed him sixth in the event at the Olympic Trials.
