Valor Christian Girls Take Colorado 4A Championship Title

The girls of Valor Christian High School started the meet on the right foot, with the A team of Raili Carter, Brook LandtMadison Hoehn and Brooke Stenstrom winning the A final of the 200 medley relay in a new 4A state record time of 1:45.31. Stenstrom went on to set another 4A state record, this time in an individual event, winning the 50-yard free in 23.22, she also won the 100 free in 50.63, just off of the record time of 50.08.

Other impressive swims of the meet came from double winner Morgan Friesen, Colorado state record holder of Windsor High School, who won both the 200 IM and 100 breast in times of 2:03.78 and 1:02.15 respectively. Alex Reddington of St. Mary’s Academy was also a double winner, taking the victories in the 200 free (1:51.52) and the 100 fly (55.05), a time that’s good for a new 4A state record.

Evergreen High School earned first place points in the distance event when Kate McDonald took the victory in the 500 free, winning in a time of 5:04.90, ahead of Valor Christian’s Abbey Owenby who clocked in in 5:06.76. Marie Goodwyn garnered first place points for Cheyenne Mountain, winning the 100 back in 56.60, ahead of Sabrina Sabadeanu of Golden High School, who clocked in in 57.12.

In the 1m diving event, it was Evergreen High School with the 1-2 sweep when Katrin Lewis finished with 484.90 points and teammate Bailey Mills finished with 479.75 points.

Manitou Springs took the title in 200 freestyle relay when the team of Emily Dolloff-HoltSydney Dolloff-HoltSamantha White and Veronica Morin clocked in in 1:36.98, ahead of the team from Cheyenne Mountain, who finished in 1:37.55. The girls of Cheyenne Mountain girls went on to dominate the 400 free relay, the team of Cat Wright, Goodwyn, Maggie Tibbitt and Katie Liebscher touched the pads in a new 4A state record time of 3:27.40, ahead of Valor Christian, who finished in 3:31.35.
