Utah pulled out decisive victories over UNLV in both men’s and women’s duals against UNLV. The Utes went at least 1-2-3 in 5 individual events. The best performance from a team perspective came in the women’s 100 breast, where Utah took the top 4 spots. Senior Mariah Gassaway won the event in 1:04.67, with freshman Charity Pittard coming in 2nd (1:04.86), sophomore McKenna Gassaway in 3rd (1:05.64), and freshman Abbie Hurst was 4th (1:06.79).
Pittard went on to win 2 events. In the 200 breast, the freshman touched first in 2:21.00, with Gassaway touching 2nd (2:23.41). Pittard has been as fast as 2:16.03 this season. She then won the 200 IM in 2:06.51, leading another Utah 1-2-3 finish. Senior Christina Pick was 2nd in 2:08.17, and fellow senior MalloryAllen was 3rd in 2:10.50.
The Utes also had a 1-2-3 charge in the men’s 100 breast, with sophomore Andrew Britton finishing 1st in 57.06. Fellow sophomore Harrison Wayner came in 2nd with a 57.78, and Brody Lewis was 3rd in 58.27. Those 3 also made up the top 3 in the men’s 200 breast, although in a different order. In the 200, Wayner won with a 2:07.39, while Lewis came in 2nd in 2:07.95, and Britton was 3rd in 2:08.36. The Utah men also had a 1-2-3 finish in the 50 free. Junior Felix Chiun touched 1st in 20.95, followed by sophomore Cooper Deryk (20.98), and senior Liam O’Haimhirgin finsihed 3rd in 21.20.
O’Haimhirgin went on to win the 100 free in a time of 45.71. That marks the seniors fastest time of the season by .24 seconds. Utah senior Sarah Lott continued her winning streak in the women’s 100 back, touching the wall in 55.77. The senior has swum the 100 back 5 times this season, with all 5 races coming within 1 second of each other (55.18-56.08).
Utah junior Casarin Leyre won the women’s sprint free events. Leyre first won the 50 free in 23.85, beating out teammate Madeline Woznick by .31 seconds. She then clocked a 51.77 in the 100 free, finishing as the only swimmer in the field under 52 seconds. Utes freshman Panos Bolanos swept the men’s backstrokes. In the 100 back, Bolanos swam a 50.26, barely beating out UNLV’s Hayden Cornellison (50.37). Bolanos narrowly out-split Cornellison on both 50s, 24.71 to 24.76 going out, and 25.55 to 25.61 coming home. Bolanos then swam a 1:51.06 to win the 200 back, this time besting Cornellison by nearly a second.
Sophomore Ben Waterman (Utah) swept the men’s fly events. In the 200 fly, Waterman swam a 1:52.65, just ,06 off his season best. Then, Waterman won the 100 fly in a new season best of 49.51.

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Swim and Dive came away victorious this evening against UNLV as the men won 186-108 and the women followed suit, 189-111.
“We put up some top times and looked a lot cleaner out there this evening,” head coach Joe Dykstra said. “We are certainly beat up and tired from lifting and training but I am proud of how we are learning from our previous performances. That is vitally important for such a young team. Our effort was strong again and I also thought we were a little more cohesive as a unit.”
The men’s meet started with success in the 400 medley relay. David Fridlander Andrew Britton, Liam O’Haimhirgin and Ben Waterman won in 3:19.20. Britton came back and captured the 100 breast in 57.06 with O’Haimhirgin won the 100 free in 45.71. Waterman went on to take two more events for Utah, the 200 fly in 1:52.65 and 100 in 49.51.
Another winner in multiple events was Tyler Klawiter. He was able to win the 1000 free in 9:26.66 and the 500 in 4:3.76. There were more Utes in the winner’s circle as Felix Chiun took the 50 free in 20.95 and Harrison Wayner seized the 200 breast in 2:07.39. The evening concluded with the O’Haimhirgin brothers, Chiun and Cooper DeRyk beating the Rebel contingent with a time of 1:22.47
The women also cruised to victory, starting with another solid performance in the 400 medley relay. Emma Lawless, Charity Pittard, Sarah Lott and Maddie Woznick won the event with a time of 3:46.88.
Pittard won a couple more events for Utah, the 200 breast (2:21.00) and the 200 IM (2:06.51). Leyre Casarin also completed the daily double, winning the 50 free in 23.85 and the 100 in 51.77. Lawless and Lott also impressed individually with the sophomore taking the 100 fly in 56.64 and the senior winning the 100 back in 55.77.
Four more Utes picked up individual wins with Mariah Gassaway won the 100 breast in 1:04.67, Christina Pick took the 200 fly in 2:05.37, Audrey Reimer rolled in the 200 back with a time of 2:00.81 and Sara McClendon sailed to victory in the 1000 free in 10:14.44
Tony Chen dominated for the Utah men on the boards, winning the one meter (326.70) and three meter (365.93), while Emma Ruchala won the women’s one meter (270.53). The two Utes, along with Lizzy DeCecco and Regan Caufield, had their best scores of the season and hit qualifying marks for NCAA Zones.
Utah’s divers compete in the Trojan Diving Invitational at USC, Nov. 8-10 while the swimmers are off until the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Nov. 22-24. The next meet at Ute Natatorium is the Utah Diving Invitational, Dec. 6-7. The next home meet for the women is Jan. 17 against Washington State and Nevada. The men will be back in action the next day, competing against Denver

SALT LAKE CITY (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men and women’s swim teams fell to the Utah Utes at the Ute Natatorium Friday evening. The Rebel women lost 189 to 111, while the Rebel men came up short 186 to 108.

*Sophomore Montse Moreno won the 3 meter (304.43).
*Moreno took third in the 1 meter (256.88).
*Kicking off the first swimming event, Eva Kim, Skylar Moore, Kate Afanasyeva, and Ava Haase took third in the 400 Medley Relay with a swim of 3:55.74.
*Sophomore Filio Raftopoulou took third in the 1000 free (10:29.85).
*Sophomore Julia Filippova touched first in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.18, sophomore Carissa Armijo took third (1:53.64).
*Sophomore Lindsay Swail took second in the 100 back with a swim of 57.00.
*Sophomore Teneka Ash finished second in the 200 fly with a swim of 2:05.89, sophomore Camila Quineche took third (2:09.59).
*Junior Caitlyn Schreiber took third in the 50 free with a time 24.30.
*Filippova took second in the 100 free (52.07).
*Raftopoulou took second in the 200 back (2:04.12), sophomore Kacey Kiuchi took third (2:04.78).
*Moore placed third in the 200 breast with a swim of 2:25.88.

*Closing out the meet, Filippova, Kennedy Hood, Schreiber, Kim, grabbed first in the 200 free relay (1:35.27). The team of Haase, Camryn Wheals, Alexia Tayloer-Arredondo, and Kate Afanasyeva took third (1″37.37).
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
*Junior Jesse Cawley grabbed third on 1-meter (274.35).
*Cawley took second on 3-meter (322.05).
*The 200 Medley Relay team of Panos Bolanos, Sam Willstrop, Casey McEuen, and Richard Szilagyi took second with a 3:22.63. Hayden Cornellison, Michal Cukanow, Sean Gage, and Bryan Chavez took third (3:23.13).
*Sophomore Ivan Zukov took third in the 1000 free (9:40.77).
*Freshman Ogi Maric touched first in the 200 free with a swim of 1:41.65, senior Hayden Hemmens took second (1:42.13).
*Freshman Panos Bolanos finished first in the 100 back (50.26), followed by sophomore Hayden Cornellison who touched second (50.37).
*Sophomore Michael Klauss took second in the 200 fly with a time of 1:53.59, followed by sophomore Michal Cukanow who finished third (1:55.75).
*Szilgyi took second in 100 free (46.16).
*Bolanos took grabbed his second win of the day in the 200 back (1:51.06) followed by Cornellison who finished second (1:52.01).
*Hemmens took third in the 500 free with a time of 4:40.48.
*Cukanow took third in the 100 fly (51.09).
*Cornellison touched first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.49, followed by sophomore Jack Binder who finished third (1:56.81).
*Closing of the last event of the night, the 200 free relay team of Maric, Casey McEuen, Szilagyi, and Sean Gage took second (1:24.13). The team of Jake Keller, Hemmens, Christopher Mykkanen, and Steven Butler took third (1:25.44).

The team’s energy and focus were on point, evidenced by some nice wins in critical events, and also by our ability to routinely score three swimmers in events.
