Utah Gains Verbal From Backstroker Amber Gardner For Fall of 2020

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Amber Gardner of the Crow Canyon Country Club Sharks has made her verbal commitment to swim for the University of Utah in the fall of 2020. A backstroker and freestyler, Gardner will make the move to Utah looking for a breakout season; many of her career-best times are from when she was 14.

At the 2019 California CIF North Coast Section Championship, Gardner finished in 8th place in both the 200 and 500-yard freestyles (1:53.26 and 5:05.87 respectively). Over the summer at the 2019 PC Far Western LCM Championships, she took 5th place in the 400 LCM IM (5:19.20), 6th place in the 100 LCM butterfly (1:05.21), and 7th place in the 200 LCM backstroke (2:24.40).

Best Times in Yards:

  • 50 free – 24.09
  • 100 free – 52.49
  • 200 free – 1:51.57
  • 100 back – 58.67
  • 200 back – 2:03.67

Gardner will get two years to train with the Utes number one backstroker from the 2018-2019 season, Audrey Reimer. She will join breaststroker Sadie Edwards and sprint freestyler Reagan Cathcart as members of the class of 2024.
