Harrison Wayner has announced that he will transfer to the University of Georgia beginning this spring after spending a season-and-a-half at the University of Utah.
“I am very excited to announce my decision to transfer to swim at the University of Georgia,” Wayner said. “Thankful for a great year and a half at Utah, but couldn’t be more excited to take this next step in my life as a Bulldog.”
Wayner is a native of Savannah, Georgia where he attended the Savannah Arts Academy. Last season, in his freshman year at Utah last season, he finished in the non-scoring C final in both the 100 breast (55.14 – 19th) and 200 breast (2:00.03 – 22nd) at the Pac-12 Championship meet.
He swam in 2 dual meets for Utah this season, with best times at the most recent, on November 1st, against UNLV when he swam 57.6 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:06.1 in the 200 breaststroke.
Wayner was Utah’s #3 breaststroker last season behind then-freshman Andrew Britton and then-senior Brody Lewis. The Utes also brought in freshman Jaek Horner (54.31/1:59.43 so far at Utah) this season to join an already-crowded breaststroke group.

Wayner is the 2nd Georgia native to commit somewhere else, and then decide to come to Georgia this spring instead. Former Georgia High School State Champion Zach Franklin was originally committed to the U.S. Air Force Academy, but before ever swimming a meet for them announced that he would instead arrive at Georgia this spring.
