University of Wyoming Hires New Assistant Coach

Jim Bossert is the newest member of the Wyoming swimming and diving coaching staff.  Bossert will be working alongside graduate assistant coach Nick Dillinger, assistant coach Kristen Pritchett, diving coach Kyle Bogner, and head coach Dave Denniston.

Dave Denniston was Wyoming Swim and Dive’s assistant coach for the past two seasons before being named head coach this past April. Previous head coach Tom Johnson announced his resignation in January and his plan of starting a private business. Dave Denniston took over in April when Johnson officially left the pool deck. Prior to assistant coaching at UW, Denniston spent seven years coaching the U.S. Paralympic team at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

Denniston first met Bossert at the OTC where Bossert spent his summers working from 2012-2014. Denniston noticed that Bosner had the unique ability to watch the best coaches and athletes at the OTC and learn from them. “Jim brings a real positive presence to the pool deck.” Denniston began,  “He has a wealth of knowledge, is young and full of energy.  I think he is really going to connect with our athletes on a personal level.  He has the expertise to take our swimmers to the next level.”

Bossert is completing his master’s degree and work at the University of Alabama before making the move to Wyoming.  The Colorado Springs native had dreams of coaching after swimming in college. He swam NCAA DIII at Grove City College. He served as a team captain his senior year then made the switch to volunteer assistant coach at the Univerity of Alabama in 2016.

This past 2016/2017 season the Cowboys placed second at Wester Athletic Conference Championships and the Cowgirls placed fourth at Mountain West Championships.
