University of Wisconsin Men Receive Commitment From Sprinter Colin Senke

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Colin Senke, high school class of 2022, is staying in his home state of Wisconsin after announcing his verbal commitment to the University of Wisconsin.

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Wisconsin! I would like to thank my family, teammates, and coaches for their constant support and encouragement. I can’t wait to be a Badger! #ONWISCONSIN”

Senke currently swims year round with the Schroeder YMCA Swim Team located in Brown Deer, Wisconsin. He recently finaled at the 2021 NCSA Summer Swimming Championships in the long course 50 back, going a lifetime best of 28.03. Senke departed NCSA’s with 4 new personal bests, also including the long course 50 free (25.41), 50 fly (27.35), and 100 fly (1:00.23).

Senke swam all years of high school at Madison Edgewood High School. At the WIAA Division II Boys Swimming State Championships, Senke helped lead his high school to third place with two first-place finishes that were also best times (100 back- 49.28 and 100 fly- 50.19). He also set a personal best in the 50 back (22.97).

Best Short Course Times:

  • 50 Free: 21.61
  • 100 Free: 48.88 (46.01 relay split)
  • 100 Back: 49.28
  • 200 Back: 1:51.51
  • 100 Fly: 50.19

Wisconsin finished fifth at the Big Ten Championships, coming away with three bronze medals. Senke’s 100 backstroke would have placed him 34th overall at prelims, while his 200 backstroke would have placed him 44th overall at prelims. Future teammate Wes Jekel (high school class of 2019) finished sixth overall in the A final of the 100 back with a time of 46.42. Wisconsin currently has a more mid-distance based group of men, with 7 out of their 10 top swims at the Big Ten Championships being over 400 yards.

Using best times from the 2020-2021 season, Senke’s 100 backstroke would have placed him fourth on the team, while his 200 backstroke would have placed him fifth last season. His sprint events, 50 free and 100 free, would put him ninth and seventh respectively. His 100 fly would have placed him eight overall in the 2020-2021 season. Senke is geared more toward sprinting and 200’s as opposed to more distance based-events, like the 800.

Senke will arrive on campus in the fall of 2022. Also verbally committed to Wisconsin’s class of 2022 are Torok Dominik Mark, Charlie Jones, Abby Reid and Cooper Scharff.
