Holding off Belarusian talent Anastasiya Shkurdai was American Torri Huske to win the 100 fly tonight with a new best time of 57.71. That takes almost a tenth off of her old NAG record and previous best, a 57.80 done at the 2019 U.S. National Championships.

When Huske first set the NAG, she broke a 38-year-old legendary record from Mary T. Meagher of 57.93 (tonight’s bronze medalist, Claire Curzan, was 57.87 at U.S. Nationals and also under Meagher’s record from 1981). Here in Budapest, Huske jumped out to a quicker front half, and came back a little bit slower, but it was still enough to edge ahead of her old record.
Coming into U.S. Nationals a month or so ago, Huske had never broken 59.0. She went 57.98 in prelims at Nationals, then went 57.80 in the final, broke 58 again in the semifinals here in Budapest (57.86), and now has finished off the meet at 57.71.
Huske will wrap up her meet as the butterfly leg of Team USA’s 4×100 medley relay.
Dahlia may not make it at all either next summer.
