Ana Herceg, a junior at Weiss High School and a member of Nitro Swimming in Cedar Park, Texas, has made her verbal commitment to swim for Notre Dame in the fall of 2021. A middle-distance freestyler and backstroker, Herceg is a dual citizen of both the United State and Croatia, where she did the majority of her long course swimming over the summer.

Competing for Croatia at the 2019 LEN European Junior Championships, Herceg took 8th place in the 200 LCM backstroke (2:16.58), but her 2:13.33 in the semi-finals earned her an Olympic Trials cut in the event for this summer. At the 2019 Texas High School 5A State Championship meet, Herceg took 2nd place in the 500-yard freestyle (4:57.56) and won the 200-yard freestyle in a state record time of 1:46.39.

Herceg will be able to make an immediate impact on the Notre Dame team; her 200 freestyle best time would have been the third fastest time on their 800 freestyle relay at the ACC Championship meet that took 3rd place and broke the school record. She will join Jessica Geriane, Madeline Menkhaus, Maggie Graves, Mary Cate Pruitt, and Sophia Karras as members of the Fighting Irish class of 2025.
