Texas A&M Women Win Every Event Over SMU

It was a senior day blowout for the Texas A&M as they pummeled the SMU in College Station. The Aggies had taken a tough home loss the night before to Georgia, and they rebounded to send their seniors out well on their last home competition-

In fact, so lopsided was the competition that some of the best swimmers for A&M competed in off events. Sycerika McMahon took the 500 freestyle to go along with her usual breaststroke. Esther Gonsalez tried her hand in the 200 fly and also came away with the win.

Three swimmers had two victories a piece of the Aggies. Diver Madison Hudkins captured both the 1M and 3M boards with little competition. Beryl Gastaldello took the 100 free and 100 fly. Jorie Caneta, who also won both against Georgia, was victorious over both breaststroke distances.

Other winners for A&M on the day:

  • Sarah Gibson in the 200 free
  • Lisa Bratton in the 100 back
  • Lexi Lupton in the 50 freestyle
  • Bethany Galat in the 400 IM

The lone standout performance on the day for SMU was Vicky Cunningham, who battled to second place in the 100 freestyle and also had the team’s fastest split on the 200 freestyle relay.
