Team USA’s Medal Count In Rio To Be Posted On Freedom Tower

High profile swimmers Ryan Lochte and Missy Franklin are among those athletes on site at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles as part of the 2016 Team USA Media Summit.

The event, taking place through March 9th, hosts 100 Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls for Team USA, where the top personalities from across all the Olympic sports will be available for interviews, photos and exclusive roundtable discussions.

Snippets of news has been trickling out of the summit, including ESPN Olympics reporting that the United States Olympic Committee announced a major team spirit attraction to happen stateside throughout the Olympics.  During the Rio Games, the USOC says it will post the overall Team USA medal count on the Freedom Tower in New York City.

The Freedom Tower, otherwise known as One World Trade Center, is the primary building of the rebuilt World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan, New York City.

The announcement comes the same day as USOC Chief Marketing Officer, Lisa Baird, stated that the 2016 Olympics in Rio will be the ‘most marketed ever.’
