TCU swimming and diving head coach Richard Sybesma announced Mitch Adshead and Matt Tynan have been added to the staff as graduate assistants.

“We couldn’t be happier with the two new additions to our program’s staff,” said Sybesma. “Both Mitch and Matt have true passions for the sport, and we think they’ll be great assets for the future of the Horned Frogs.”

Tynan comes to TCU after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at George Mason University. There, the Westford, Mass. native created workout routines and coached the mid-distance and distance freestyle athletes. Tynan graduated in the spring with a degree in kinesiology. Before arriving at George Mason his sophomore year, Tynan was one of Maryland University’s top distance swimmers in the program.

Adshead, a native of Hednesford, England, returns to TCU after completing a four-year swimming career for the Frogs. During his campaign under Coach Sybesma, Adshead garnered First-Team All-Big 12 honors in the 200 breaststroke in 2013. He also earned a spot at the Great Britain Olympic trials and was named TCU’s Breakout Swimmer of the Year in 2012. Adshead closed out his collegiate career with the No. 2 all-time mark in the 400 IM.

Adshead is also a certified National Strength and Conditioning Association (NCSA) specialist.

Great move by TCU. Tynan was a transcended presence at Mason, sad to see him go. Way to go TCU!
