Singaporean national team member Tao Li is beginning to plan where her life will take her after swimming with an objective to complete a business management degree and open up her own “Tao Li Swim School.”
Li just spent time in Florida training with the Bolles School Sharks alongside fellow Singapore national team member Joseph Schooling, but has stated that she’ll be moving her training back to Singapore leading up to the 2015 South-East Asian Games. Coach Ian Turner who worked with her previously just stepped down from his position following health reasons, so Li is now in the search for a new coach.
Li just competed at the Asian Games bringing home a silver and a bronze medal and plans to resume her 2-year degree in business management at the Singapore Institute of Management following the 2015 SEA Games, where she’ll to compete in June.
She’s done some coaching in Singapore, but wants to also add the business component to successfully run her swim school.
The overall plan is to stay in Singapore, however she has not completely ruled out overseas training.
Li became the first Singaporean swimmer to make an Olympic Final in 2008, and she’ll be giving another crack at it as she’ll continue to train towards the 2016 Olympics. The 24-year-old said that she’ll continue her studies as she trains for the Games, and after that it seems as though her business side will take over and she’ll attempt to bring her swim school to life.
