Jeremy Desplanches is a competitive swimmer who competes for Switzerland internationally. 2015 World Championships In his first long course world championships, Desplanches set national records in both the prelims (1:59.46) and semis (1:59.35) of the 200 IM, the latter placing him 12th overall. 2016 Olympic Games After finishing prelims of the 200 IM in a 3-way tie for 12th, Desplanches was unable to better his time, swimming to a 2:00.38 in semi finals, which put him at 15th and out of the final heat. 2017 World Championships After qualifying for semi finals, Desplanches made a big time drop and swam to a personal best and new Swiss record of 1:56.86 in the 200 IM, putting him in his first world championships final. In the final heat, he finished 8th with a 1:57.50. 2018 European Championships Having had a myriad of international experience at this point, Deplanches used it to his advantage to take his first European title in the 200 IM, touching the wall at 1:57.04 and finishing .79 ahead of 2nd place. He also swam the 400 IM in Glasgow, where he finished 17th overall (4:20.89). 2019 World Championships After his performance in 2017, Desplanches gained redemption in the 2019 world final of the 200 IM.
