Charlotte, North Carolina-native Sinclair Larson has announced her verbal commitment to join the University of Tennessee Volunteers beginning in the 2018-19 season.
“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for the University of Tennessee. I’d like to thank my family, friends, and coaches for this opportunity. I can’t wait to be a vol!” [sic]
Larson swims for South Mecklenburg High School and SwimMAC Carolina, and was a finalist at 2017 North Carolina 4A State Championships in both the 200 IM (5th with 2:03.92) and the 100 back (4th with 54.85). She also anchored South Mecklenburg’s 400 free relay in 51.57, powering them to a sixth-place finish. In club swimming, Larson scored in several events at 2016 Speedo Winter Junior Championships East, placing fourth in the 200 back (1:56.15), seventh in the 100 back (54.44), and 15th in the 400 IM (4:18.31).
Larson had a particularly strong meet at Greensboro Sectionals this spring, winning the 200/500 free and 200 back, coming in second in the 1000 free and 400 IM, and placing third in the 100 back. All but the 500 free were new best times, and she was only off by 2/10 in that. Likewise, Larson has earned new PBs in most of her top LCM events this summer. First, at Charlotte Ultraswim, she bested her old times in the 200m back and 200m free. Then at Long Course Nationals and World Championship Trials, Sinclair dropped time in the 400 free, 50/100m back, and 200/400m IM.

Surprised Tennessee isn’t getting more love from recruits. They’re doing so much with the swimmers they do get on campus. Anyone know if they lead for any remaining recruits?
Really? I think they are a good team, but the women’s team finished 3rd at NCAA not too long ago. How did they do this year?

I agree…I don’t believe the consciousness of the program is that of being a Top 5 program in the NCAAs…to many gimmicks in training and not enough actual work That will make a difference IMO…thus the challenge to stay competitive within the NCAAs top 5-10 programs….which Tennessee no longer is….
Well Sinclair seems like an awesome pick up to me. Her 200 back & 400 im times rock.
Coach Kredich is a great coach and person. He has a great staff of coaches and UT is a great school. They almost won SECs a couple years ago, Women have been in the top 3 recently and their men finished 7th a couple years ago. No too shabby at all. Tennessee can return to the top 5 in both Women and Men. From where is all the UT down talk coming? I think they CAN win SECs in a few years and definitely make a run at the top of NCAAs.
I’m just curious how many years you are talking….it states what happened a few years ago…what could happen a few years from now…not to mention where they are currently…
This program should be contenders year to year based on all the resources they have…your post basically implies being a “player” at SECs and NCAAs about once a decade…not very high standards for what these coaches and athletes have access to at the university..it’s a great place to be…excellent university and facilities in a super swimming conference…I don’t think Coach Kredichs ability as a coach are much in question…I would agree he’s a very good one…but the program under performs for what they have…my earlier opinion above is why I believe… Read more »
True…you got me there BUT give him 3 years and they will have the women in the top 5 and men in the top 10 consistently.
Here is a question for you… How is coach Kredich going to do that? same stuff, same facilities, same philosophies.
You may remember that the #1 recruit class of 2016 just finished up her freshman year at UT. So they do have talent on the team…
Again, I’m not knocking the program down. I am just wondering on how UT would go back to top 5 again.
