Swim Neptune’s Keaton Jones Win Twice on 2nd Day of Austin Sectional

On the 2nd day of the Austin Sectionals meet, Swim Neptune 16-year-old Keaton Jones won 2 events. Jones first took the men’s 100 back in 56.29, touching just off his personal best of 56.21. His previous best was set last month at the Olympic Trials Wave II meet. Jones went on to win the men’s 200 free in 1:51.51, establishing a new lifetime best by 0.89 seconds. His previous best of 1:52.40 was swum just 3 weeks ago.

BYU’s Tanner Nelson clocked a 4:25.67 to win the men’s 400 IM, touching as the only swimmer in the field under 4:30. The swim marked a 2.30-second drop from his previous best time, which was from August of 2019.

Colorado Springs Area Swimming 16-year-old Caroline Bricker blasted a huge new lifetime best in the women’s 400 IM, winning the race in 4:50.60. Her previous best of 4:55.40 was swum in August of 2019 as well. Bricker used a 1:04.15 on the fly leg to get out to a fast start, and carried that momentum through the race.

Tualatin Hills Swim Club’s Elizabeth Cook continued to have a great meet, winning the women’s 200 free in 2:03.67, marking her first sub-2:04 200 free. Cook swam a very well-split race, taking the swim out in 1:00.85 before coming home in 1:02.82, for a 1.97-second difference between her 100s.

Scottsdale Aquatic Club’s Greer Pattison took the women’s 100 back in 1:03.80. The swim was off her personal best of 1:02.90, which has stood as her best since August of 2018.
