Swim Job: Y-Spartaquatics Swim Club seeks Head Developmental Swim Coach

JOB DESCRIPTION

YSSC is looking for a great developmental coach to continue the tradition of excellence set forth in the Upstate of South Carolina. Energy, dedication and commitment to excellence are very important at YSSC!

The Y-Spartaquatics Swim Club (YSSC) located in Upstate South Carolina is seeking a full time Head Developmental Coach!

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

– To deliver the highest quality swim team by assisting the Head Age Group Coach in planning and development of a competitive swimming program that follows the standards set forth by the YMCA of the USA and USA Swimming.

QUALIFICATIONS

– A bachelors degree is preferable
– Must be willing to fulfill all swim team responsibilities to the best of the employees ability.
– Must be able to take direction and use supervisor’s instruction to continually increase their knowledge and experience in competitive coaching.
– Must accept, demonstrate and teach the YMCA Character Development values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility throughout their assigned swim team groups.
– Experience in a successful swim school / swim lessons program is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

– Oversee the first 2 Color Groups in the YSSC competition team (Green & Red).
– Provide parent / swimmer communication through phone, email and website.
– Assist in all aspects of meet management (YSSC hosts 8+ meets annually)
– Attend all staff meetings and training opportunities as requested.
– Roster and retention planning for developmental training groups
– Plan and execute annual recruiting drive with local summer league teams. Including clinics and meet visits.

Necessary Qualifications:
– CPR
– First Aide
– Coaches Safety Training
– Principles of YMCA Coaching (preferred but able to complete within 3 months of hire)

Times & Dates Required:
– 40-45 hours Monday-Saturday
– Attend all required swim meets (that apply to your groups unless otherwise noted)
– Flexibility and additional hours may be needed.

COMPENSATION

– Salary is commensurate based on experience

The Y-Spartaquatics Swim Club is a Gold Medal (Top 20 USA Swimming) year-round competitive swim team located in South Carolina’s upstate. YSSC is a program of the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg. It is the vision of the YMCA to build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities by instilling our values of Respect, Responsibility, Caring, and Honesty.

YSSC offers a step by step progression for every child, no matter the ability or age, in the sport of swimming. There is over 75 years of combined coaching experience amongst the Staff. The YSSC Staff has a love and enthusiasm for the sport of swimming that is unmatched by any other club in the Southeast. Long term planning and goal setting are the greatest tools our staff uses to develop a lifelong love of swimming.

YSSC competes in both USA Swimming and YMCA sanctioned meets. The program has produced South Carolina State Qualifiers & Champions, Age Group Sectional Qualifiers & Champions, Y-National Qualifiers & Champions, Junior National Qualifiers, and USA Olympic Trial Qualifiers.

I have more experience probably than you want, but I must know your highest starting Salary and your complete Remuneration Package. I have had swimmers from other countries in the Olympics and had one American boy win two gold medals in the Olympics!
