Cassidy Carey, a rising senior at Sun Prairie High School, has recently announced her commitment to swim for Illinois State University. Carey will graduate from high school in spring 2020 and join ISU’s class of 2024.
Carey is primarily a backstroker and butterflier. At the WI SWAT Single Age Grand Prix, Carey placed 3rd in the 100 butterfly (1:00.01) and 4th in the 200 backstroke (2:10.66). At the high school level, she finished 6th in the 100 yard backstroke at the WI AA D1 Sectionals in 57.99

This year at Illinois State’s MVC Conference Championships, Carey would have made several finals appearances with her current best times. Most notably, her best times would have placed 8th in the 200 backstroke (2:03.82) and 9th in the 100 butterfly (57.11).
Carey will begin her swimming career at Illinois State University beginning fall 2020. Illinois State hired a new coach this off season – former Indiana assistant Caitlin Hamilton.
