You read about Henrik Christiansen‘s 800m free Norwegian National Record, as well as Tomoe Hvas‘ new national mark in the 50m fly and Malene Rypestol‘s shiny new 400m free standard, all of which took place at this weekend’s Norwegian Short Course Championships,

However, at the end of it all, another record bit the dust, courtesy of Niksa Stojkovski‘s 21.73 swim in the 50m freestyle. Entering this meet, the 25-year-old’s personal best and national mark stood at the 21.78 he logged at the 2018 Short Course World Championships. There in Hangzhou, China, Stojkovski finished 29th out of the heats.

This weekend, however, the man found a way to shave another .05 off of his PB to log his new record and stand atop the podium with the national title.

Stojkovski also won the men’s 100m fly in a time of 52.47, as well as the 100m free in a time of 48.17. Both of those performances also check-in as the fastest swims of the man’s career.

Also making more waves in Stavanger was Hvas, who followed up his 50m fly national record with a huge new personal best of 1:44.66 in the men’s 200m free. Topping the field by over a second, the 19-year-old multi-Youth Olympic Games medalist crushed his previous lifetime best of 1:47.22 he logged 2 years ago.

His 1:44.66 outing sits only behind Markus Lie’s national record of 1:44.24 from 2017 to make Hvas the 2nd fastest performer ever from his nation.
