Tyler Schroeder, a senior at Peachtree Ridge High School and Georgia state champion in the 100 butterfly, has verbally committed to swim at the University of Georgia.

Schroeder, who swims club for SwimAtlanta, is a 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke High School All-American. At the 2021 Georgia 7A State Championships, he won the 100 butterfly and came in fourth in the 100 backstroke.
In addition to swimming, Schroeder is a varsity baseball outfielder/power hitter.
He has Futures cuts in the 50 freestyle, 100 and 200 butterfly, 100 backstroke, and 200 IM. He has a winter Juniors cut in the 100 and 200 butterfly. He also has a Summer Juniors and winter U.S. Open cut in the 100 butterfly.
His best short course times are:
- 50 freestyle: 20.96
- 100 backstroke: 50.33
- 100 butterfly: 48.35
- 200 butterfly: 1:48.62
- 200 IM: 1:51.95
The University of Georgia is a member of the Southeastern Conference. At the 2021 SEC conference championships, the Georgia men placed second behind the University of Florida.
Georgia has done well in the 100 butterfly at that meet, but the conference champion and Bulldog in the event — Camden Murphy — graduated last year. Schroeder will likely find a strong training partner in Luca Urlando, who in his freshman year came in fourth in the event. Overall, though, Schroeder would have had the seventh-fastest performance for the team in the 100 butterfly last season.
Schroeder joins other 2022 commits Colton McGrady, Charlie Stout and Sam Kohm.
