Sprinter Rieger verbally commits to Georgia Tech

Alex Rieger, a sprint back and free specialist out of Davis, California, has verbally committed to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Rieger should help improve Georgia Tech’s young sprinting crew, provide depth on relays, and help the Yellow Jackets compete in a tough women’s ACC.

Swimming for the Davis Aquadarts and Davis High School, Rieger is at her best over short distances, the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 back, although she’s also able to put together a nice 200 backstroke.

Rieger’s Top Times

100 Back: 56.54

200 Back: 2:04.01

50 Free: 23.35

100 Free: 51.45

50 Back: 26.79

Rieger’s lifetime bests put her just outside of scoring range at ACCs in multiple events, meaning a solid freshman season could have her contributing right out of the gate to Georgia Tech, which hopes to improve on its 8th-place finish at last year’s ACCs.
