Sprint Queen Cate Campbell’s Journey To Rio (Video)

There’s no denying Aussie sprinter Cate Campbell is in a terrific position to potentially take both the women’s sprint freestyle titles at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. The 23-year-old Commercial Queensland swimmer sits atop the world rankings in both the 50m and 100m freestyle events, complete with a shiny new World Record in the latter from just earlier this month.

Campbell is often seen alongside her double World Champion sister, Bronte Campbell, as the pair have been tearing up the international sprinting scene for the past few years. As seen in the video, Cate is on the rise at the right time, ready to take on the world (including her sister) next month in Rio.

Get a high-level glimpse into what got Cate this far and what still drives the phenomenal athlete to get up and out of bed every morning.

It’s interesting to me that she finally broke the world record in a race without her biggest competitor, Bronte, after being pushed by her so many times side by side. It makes me wonder if it was the absence of her sister in that race that allowed her to push through it.

If she “only” swims 52.3/52.4 in Rio, you are maybe right
