…Mission Viejo has added Emily Hanson to their coaching staff, continuing their strong open water tradition. Hanson will fill in the spot vacated when Tyler Fenwick left for an assistant coaching job at Tennessee. Hanson’s relatively new to the coaching scene, but has plenty of competitive experience. She is a former All-American at Michigan, and represented the United States in both the 5k and 25k open water swim at the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome. She served at her alma mater in an administrative role to get her first taste of the coaching scene and most recently has served as an age group coach for her home-town Bloomington-Normal (Illinois) YMCA. Mission Viejo is responsible for 4 of the 12 members of the USA Swimming Open Water National Team; no other program produced more than one member.
