Spoiler Alert: Answers To The First SwimSwam Crossword Puzzle

It’s been several days since SwimSwam’s first-ever Crossword Puzzle was published, which means you’ve all had a chance to take a stab at our aquatic brainteaser. Some clues were easier than others, but all challenged you to think outside the pool and reminiscence on swimming history both old and not so old.

If you haven’t had a chance to give it a try, the blank puzzle is still within this post.

For those who got the answers all correct, as indicated by your input turning to green within the puzzle, congratulations!

For those who saw some red responses or had trouble coming up with anything at all, the entire puzzle’s completion is at the bottom of this post.

Note that we’ll be releasing our puzzle #2 shortly, so get ready to give the swimming side of your brain another workout over your morning cup of coffee this weekend.

Original Post (Answers at the bottom)

With most everyone everywhere under lockdown, we’re looking for games to play, books to read and fun shows to watch to pass the time between day jobs and at-home workouts.

For some, this means Catan and Scrabble, for others, it’s word searches and novels. But none of these diversions scratch that swimmer itch in all of us, always bubbling at the surface waiting to get out.

Enter the first-ever official SwimSwam crossword puzzle.

Think you know the ins and outs of our sport’s greatest stars? Confident you remember the reason for a particular DQ from years ago? Or perhaps you have a mental repository of everyone who ever held a swimming world record?

Here’s your chance to put that knowledge to the test just for fun with a simple crossword puzzle meant to entertain and challenge. Some clues are easier than others, but we encourage you to use your brain and memory as opposed to the all-too-easy internet.

Share your success (or lack thereof) in the comments and look for further editions of this aquatic brainteaser down the road.

This was SO fun. It also opened up nice memories to reminisce on, especially the guitar smashing. I am an avid NYT cross-worder but prefer this swimswam version because I can actually understand the niche clues. Please keep them coming!!!
