Spain’s Macarena García Garay to Swim for Toledo Beginning in 2017-18

Macarena García Garay, a Spanish swimmer from A Coruña in Galicia, in the northwest part of the Iberian Peninsula, will join the University of Toledo next fall. García Garay swims for Club del Mar de San Amaro, where she specializes in IM, fly and breast.

“I am glad to inform you that next Fall 2017 I will be joining the Toledo Rockets Swimming & Diving University Team. I am very excited and I am looking forward to this experience. I will do my best to help the team improve. We’ll see each other soon!”

At the recent Spanish Championships in April, she finished 8th in the 400 IM (4:57.33), 13th in 200 fly (2:18.72), and 21st in 200 IM (2:24.16). Her top times include (converted to SCY):

  • LCM 200 IM 2:20.41 (2:03.61)
  • LCM 400 IM 4:55.41 (4:20.36)
  • LCM 200 fly 2:18.03 (2:01.82)
  • SCM 100 fly 1:02.75 (56.53)
  • SCM 200 breast 2:35.80 (2:20.36)
  • SCM 100 breast 1:12.14 (1:04.99)
  • SCM 200 back 2:18.57 (2:04.83)

García Garay will join Gracie Storm, Emma Sampson, and Alida Ramden in the Rockets’ class of 2021.
