DALLAS  – The SMU men’s swimming and diving team welcomes Metroplex rival TCU to the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium Friday at 6 p.m. for a Homecoming dual meet. Follow the action live on SMUMustangs.com, with results and video available, and by following on the Meet Mobile App ($) and at Divemeets.com.

The Mustangs are 28-3-1 all-time versus the Horned Frogs after a 184-114 win in Fort Worth in 2017. SMU won 14 of 16 events in the victory, with eight different Mustangs picking up wins.

SMU is coming off a 1-1 weekend after double-dual action in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Mustangs defeated Loyola New Orleans, the No. 5 team in the NAIA rankings, but fell to LSU, who is receiving a vote in the TYR CSCAA Top 25 Poll.

Freshmen Connor Dalbo and Ridge Livermore led the Mustangs with a pair of event wins in the 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard freestyle, respectively, and secured runner-up honors in a second event.

The Horned Frogs opened the season splitting the squad between dual action with Texas-Permian Basin and CSCAA Open Water Nationals. TCU defeated UTPB, 194-124, and earned a fourth place team finish at CSCAA Open Water. They also placed fourth at the TYR Fall Classic at FIU.

Heading into the weekend, junior transfer Matan Segal holds the top time in the American Athletic Conference in the 200-yard backstroke (1:47.78), while eight of the Mustangs’ times rank in the top three of their respective individual events.

The SMU women’s team will also host TCU on Friday, while welcoming Iowa State to the Hilltop as well, and Homecoming continues with the annual Alumni Meet Saturday starting at 10 a.m.

I’ve heard from multiple sources that TCU is using this meet as their mid-season rest. Makes sense looking at their schedule, no invite listed and this is one they might actually have a chance to win. Risky move for a new staff to go “all in” for a dual meet.
