Slovenia Becomes First European Country to Declare an End to the Pandemic

Slovenia has officially become the first European country to declare an end to the Coronavirus pandemic. The country, which has a population of approximately 2 million people, announced that as a result of the end to the pandemic, its borders with Italy, Austria, and Hungary will be opened to all EU-nationals.

Speaking on the subject, prime minister Janez Jansa said, “Today Slovenia has the best epidemic situation in Europe, which enables us to call off the general epidemic.”

According to Johns Hopkins, Slovenia has a total of 1,464 confirmed cases since the virus spread to the country in March. Comparatively, its bordering countries, Italy, Hungary, and Austria have had 223,096, 3,417, and 16,058 cases, respectively.

In opening, Slovenia has announced that sports competitions could begin as early as May 23rd without spectators. The country has already implemented new guidelines for training in pools. Within these guidelines, it states that all registered athletes are permitted to train, but only individually. Additionally, athletes should shower at home before and after entering the pool.

In order to limit exposure within the water, Slovenia’s National Institute for Public Health also published new guidelines for pool managers to follow for pool maintenance. These include increasing the concentration of chlorine in the water to .5 mg/L and heating the pool to at least a temperature of 23 degrees Celsius.

As a nation, Slovenia has participated in every Olympic Games since 1992. Out of its 40 Olympic medals, they have earned one in swimming: a silver medal in the women’s 200m freestyle from Sara Isakovic in 2008. At the 2019 World Championships, Slovenia entered 4 pool swimmers and 1 open water swimmer, with their highest finish coming from Tjasa Oder who finished 9th in both the 800m freestyle and the 1500m freestyle.

The virus determines the timeline, not the politicians.

OL ‘LONGHORN and PSYCHODAD two birds of a feather. Both terrified to come out of the basement until there’s a cure and may well wait for one to be developed for the common cold too.

This is wrong on many levels. Here is Slovenia stats:
Coronavirus Cases:
1,465
Deaths:
103
Recovered:
270

So, still about 1,200 sick people and many more infected walking around.

In contrast, Republic of Monetengro, not far from Slovenia, and about a quarter of population (650,000), has this stats:
Coronavirus Cases:
315
Deaths:
9
Recovered:
311
only 4 registered case left to recover. Montenegro is still now proclaiming to be free although no new cases last 8 days, because they do… Read more »

In your opinion, he’s reckless. I would call him progressive. Other than Sweden, every other country is pursuing a very speculative scientific experiment that has never been tried before.

Colorado state health officials are being challenged by a county coroner for saying that a man who tested positive for the coronavirus succumbed to the deadly infection when an investigation showed he had literally drunk himself to death.

Montezuma County Coroner George Deavers conducted an investigation that determined Sebastian Yellow, 35, had died of acute alcohol poisoning after his blood alcohol content came back at .55. That’s about seven times the legal limit.

In reality no matter what the Bonehead in Slovenia says, Boofhead in Hungary says no.

I for one, salute him for taking a reasonable path instead of “hide in your homes until this goes away”(which will probably be never).

What about the testing? If they aren’t testing everyone…they shouldn’t open their borders because all of the infected people from Italy will cross the borders!
