In another landmark announcement for swimming in Singapore, just months after announcing SSA’s new high performance coaching duo of Sergio Lopez and Gary Tan, the Enterprise Sports Group has announced a new deal with Singapura Finance as the title sponsor of the country’s National Age-Group Swimming Championships from this year until 2017.
The Enterprise Sports Group is Swimming Singapore’s marketing and commercial partner and is in charge of activities like securing title sponsors for the national age group championship meet.
As a part of that deal, age group swimmers who break National Records or Meet Records at the 2015, 2016, or 2017 SNAG meet will earn prize money. While specific details haven’t been announced, it’s believed that this money will exceed $100,000 over the three years, according to local media reports.
Singapore has momentum on its side, as it will host the 2015 edition of the SEA Games – a multi-sport event that holds great importance nationally.
With more than 30 swimmers now in Lopez’s National Training Center group, there is now the elite-level coaching, and the elite-level incentive, for performance in the country which has become an interesting experience of whether a mid-level swimming nation can invest money in a high-profile national team coach like Lopez and single-handedly change the fate of the association.

Jeff the US is alone on the “amateur” front. In the swimming context that rule affects more females than males.
And im assuming that ensures these kids wont be “amateurs” after the fact, and cant apply for US and likely other nations school programs.
